this movie is absolutely terrible

first of all, it's not even in color.

and where's the widescreen, huh?

but more importantly, where's the CGI and 1,206 cuts-per-minute, shaky-cam cool stuff? and believe it or not, the audio is low-fidelity *mono* -- are you kidding me? where's matt damon or ben affleck? and how come it's not narrated by morgan freeman?

like i said, this movie is absolutely terrible... and it wasn't even post-converted into 3D.

Can't you troll somehwere else? Even if you are joking, go somewhere else.

I think the OP is fine in his sardonic tongue in cheek take on the film. Why don't you go somewhere where your opinions and feelings are protected from complex challenge?

"I slept with you and you're in love with my husband. What the hell am I supposed to do with that?"

reply

What are you talking bout, boy? The OP appeared to be a troll, even with his complex challenges.

How do people like the OP and you find this movie in the first place? The film wasa great classic gangster film. What are you and the OP doing here? The OP had no take on the film. Other than Matt Damon wasn't in it back in 1941 when the film was made.

You sound angry and you look angry.

I enjoyed the film and that is why I logged in to look at comments. How do people like you presume that just because someone has defended some levity, or trollesque behavior, that that person has no taste or appreciation of film?

The anger comes from the one who can't manage his 8mm head around 65mm joke.

How long have you been rehearsing that Matt Damon line? Did you try it out on your friends first? Did they hold up scorecards and say "That's a good one, Julie!"

Some poor phrasing in that sentence, Bertha. One might die diagramming it.

Get a life and lose some weight.

What did you like about the film?

reply

Hmmmmmm...... quite the turnaround.

The light and set design. The rather strange plot. Van Heflin's performance and his ability to make some of the more lofty lines sound like his own wisdom. There was wit and verve in the script. It stretched belief at times but the performers barreled through it like they lived and liked it.

Have never really "got" Robert Walker. Don't dislike him, but have wondered what his star/sex appeal was. This made me get closer to understanding. But, he'll never be a Gable, Cooper or McCrea to me.

And Lana. Luminous in this. Knowing how to work the camera with a subtle sexuality. If not a great actress, definitely the definition of a movie star.

Glad you asked?

reply

Robert Walker was not in this film. Did you mean the star- Robert Taylor?

reply

Ooops. It's late and you're right. Robert Walker was a VERY interesting actor. Thank you for your nice correction.

re: manage

I'm always amazed at the lack of humor people seem to have on these boards, and how quick they are to make unkind replies.

reply

I'm not suprised. Of course, I ignore the really obnoxious ones. What I am surprised about is people who troll- that they get some kind of enjoyment from trolling.
