Can one be hypnotised in this way? (Possible spoiler)

Can one be hypnotised into committing a crime that one would not otherwise commit and which one would find morally repugnant? Any views?

From what I've heard you can't be hypnotized to go against your normal moral code. Under hypnosis your subconscious is more open to suggestion but hypnosis is not mind control. I've never heard of a case of hypnosis inspired murder. Brainwashing is a different matter though.

I think HYPNOSIS is wrongly attributed to Lugosis character in this film, surely when he sees his dead wife the shock sends him into a sort of mental breackdown which also triggers all the hatred for her (due to her affair) that he has kept hidden inside. After killing he remembers nothing. Shes not hypnotising him at all, hes just in a trance brought on by shock.

Agreed. There's no hypnosis carried out by the invisible ghost who's not actually a ghost. She's kind of brain-addled herself any way.🐭
