Philip Morris Product Placement

When I watched this, I lost count of how many times I saw either an ad for Chesterfield cigarettes or the actual product. One shop window had signs for Chesterfield cigarettes, as well as Granger pipe tobacco and cans of Kentucky Club tobacco--all Philip Morris lines. I don't think I've seen this obvious an example of product placement in a movie this old before. Does anyone know of earlier examples?
