Speaking of Olivia on DVD...

I'm glad to see that she is interviewed on two recent DVDs (THE ADV. OF ERROL FLYNN and GONE WITH THE WIND) but two of her movies remain to be seen on DVD: MY COUSIN RACHEL and HOLD BACK THE DAWN.

It would be nice to have her comments on both films, but RACHEL is Fox and DAWN is Paramount so not too likely to happen. Paramount ought to release a box set of TO EACH HIS OWN, THE HEIRESS and HOLD BACK THE DAWN.

Anyway, nice to see Olivia participating again. I know she has seen the DVD of ROBIN HOOD and has a high opinion of the quality of today's DVDs.

"My Cousin Rachel", an excellent film with Richard Burton, should indeed be restored as well. Let us not forget "Libel" and "Light In The Piazza" with Rossano Brazzi. Both are superb. In fact, everything Olivia was involved with was always heightened to a better degree because of her talents. "To Each His Own" and "The Heiress" are essential. They MUST be restored and released on DVD.
With or without Mdme. DeHavilland's commentary.

I agree. The role of Rachel fit her like a glove--she was exactly the image of Rachel that du Maurier wrote about. I consider it one of her best (and most gracious) performances. Also it was one of Richard Burton's very best jobs. It's amazing that Fox has never bothered to release it on VHS or DVD. I also enjoyed the courtroom drama LIBEL very much--and, of course, LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA.

Nice to know Olivia has such supportive fans. We need to BUY the studio classics titles to let them know there is a strong market.

It does seem that films that snagged Oscars, like *To Each His Own* and *The Heiress*, would be considered reissue-worthy even by present studio decision makers. Ditto *Interrupted Melody*, which won a Best Screenplay Oscar and got Eleanor Parker nominated for Best Actress.

Warner owns most of MGM's old films now, and Universal a good many of Paramount's. I wonder if that puts them at a disadvantage when reissue decisions are made.
