Who's the trainer?

Caught this the other night for the first time. In that I missed the opening credits, I was really anxious to see who would play Max Corkle (being familiar with the Warren Beatty '70s production). Much to my surprise and pleasure in walks James Gleason.
If you only saw James Gleason in Meet John Doe that would be all you would need to know he would be perfectly cast as Max Corkle.
A beautiful story and, for me, a beautiful 'remake' of Heaven Can Wait. I think I like this one better.

I always felt so bad for Max. That look of sadness after he realizes he's lost Joe twice.

He plays Max Corkle again, with Claude Rains reprising his Mr Jordan role in "Down to Earth" with Rita Hayworth. Silly movie, but a bit of fun fluff with Rita Hayworth being her beautiful self.
