Glenn Ford

I never saw Glenn so skinny. He flopped at slapstick and was totally miscast.

I agree it was not his best role but he was a handsome young man!! 25 years old...

He had to start somewhere; just wish his shirt had been ripped off and the wardrobe malfunction was his! A likeable and great leading man of the cinema who didn't get the publicity he deserved.

I guess I'm not as discerning.
I really enjoyed Ford in this role.
I think his stiff, straight-man role in the moments of comedy were very well executed; his lines and stunts well timed.

I think his role was probably the hardest to pull off. On one hand, he had to play the heroic, brave, serious law-man and then, on the other hand, he had to play a love befuddled pie-in-the-face.

Sorry to disagree, but I think he did a great job and it was a treat to watch him so early in his career (promising future written all over his face).

"Devilishly handsome" reminds me of Glenn Ford opposite Hope Lange in Love is a Ball:

Ford had an amazing career.

He's actually very good in this and shows what a versatile actor he was. He's basically the straight man to Penny Singleton here, which is not an easy thing to do. (Just ask Arthur Lake.) This is really Penny's movie and she totally runs with it. Just a delightful entertainment from start to finish.
