Ballet

Ballet doesn't seem to transfer very well to film as compared to seeing the live performance - there's more activity that is occurring that isn't on camera. The viewer misses out on the full performance, but we do get to see something that very few people would have seen in person.

Actually this short film's original title is "Gaite Parisienne" choreographed by Leonide Massine (1938) for the Ballets Russe de Monte Carlo and performed by that company until its' demise. Those of us who have seen the company perform this work in the US while the company toured, were overwhelmed by its spirit, pace, complex staging and extraordinary performers, Massine, Franklin, Danilova, Danilian, etc.

An expensive DVD (1954) version is available from the UK while the Warner Bros version "The Gay Parisian(1941)" is not available for public usage at this time.
