Actor Eric Portman

Actor Eric Portman, who plays the nasty U-Boat Leutnant Hans Hirth to the hilt, appears 25 years later in other movie as an EX-Uboat man in "The Bedford Incident." Appearing as Commodore Wolfgang Schrepke of the West German Navy, Portman portarys the ex sub man assigned as a tactical aide to the manical Captain Finlander of the American destroyer, USS Bedford, chasing a rogue Soviet submarine.

As Schrepke, he appears lost in his thoughts...staring out at the dark waters of the Denmark Straits...thinking of the old days..."the Happy Time"...when the U-Boats prowled the Atlantic, looking for "prey." And of lost comrades, forever sleeping in the depths.

It was on C4 today-as excellent as ever. I particularly liked the bit where he had the cold shower.

Just finished watching this movie, and im not sure if i have ever seen Portman in anything else b4(maybe), but anyway, LOL, he plays the psychopath pretty damn well. I was very impressed with him in the movie, and he is quite handsome also. All in all it was a fairly good movie .

He didn't only play psychopaths, but he was pretty good at general weirdness.

Check out a few of his other films like Millions Like Us (1943), A Canterbury Tale (1944) and Wanted for Murder (1946)
