You didn't mention the last cameo, Raymond Massey as the Canadian soldier, the only time Canadian Massey played a Canadian on screen

I mentioned it briefly at the end, but didn't go into as much detail as I did with the other 3. Fun performance though.

You did, I just thought that he might have been worth more than a single sentence. I liked his performance as the soldier (absent without leave) who is complaining about everything. But when the time comes he does his patriotic duty.

You ask: how, for example, are these Germans able to roam so freely amongst Canadians without their accents being detected?

But haven't we just heard Canadians with strong French Canadian accents (Olivier) and with German accents (the Hutterites)? Why should a few more German accents be particularly noticeable?

Well, the Hutterites are Canadians who have been living in Canada for some time (we assume). And the French accent is besides the point, seeing as there is a whole province which speaks French as a first language.

But the soldiers have literally just got off the boat, and nto only can they all speak English, but they can speak it and understand it well enough to not arouse any suspicion. And I would think German accents would be noticeable when the country is at war with Germany. Not a major complaint, as I mentioned, and I tend to be forgiving of these little stretches of credibility in films like this.

I liked Massey's performance too. It wasn't a question of worth- more a combination of me not wanting to give too much away about the final scenes, and having already written more than I intended about the film in general.
