Surprisingly Tough Movie

There are scenes where we see Nazi planes strafing columns of refugees, which comes as a surprise when it seemed to be a chirpy movie with Tommy Trinder as a cheeky Cockney. But it is genuinely democratic in spirit, whereas In Which We Serve or San Demitrio London are horribly riddled with class condescension and snobbery. (Yes, I know it was a different time, but this film and The Life And Death Of Colonel Blimp show that films didn't have to be about the working class knowing their place.)

You have to admit it was a very good film though, tad jingoistic but held my interest throughout.
