saddest disney movie

in my opinion

reply

I agree as well I thought it was really sad. The part that got to me is where Dumbo goes and visits his mom when she's locked up.

Last movie watched. Congo 8/10

Yes, but you can also take comfort in the fact that all is made right by the end.

*SPOILER ALERT*

(LOVED the fact that Dumbo's Mom gets her own train car, and those gossipy, old biddy elephants who ostracized both Mrs. Dumbo and Dumbo are all crowded in one car! And no, you mean old b******, trying to sing along with the Good Guys at the end DOES NOT let you off the hook!)

It kind of reminds me of the end of 'Lambert the Sheepish Lion.' In fact, Lambert is structured in the same way:

-A stork (again voiced by Sterling Holloway) delivers a baby to a non-judgemental Mother. Though in this case, the stork has mixed up the orders, and delivered a baby lion to a sheep Mother.

-Due to Lambert being different, he's ostracized, until an event changes him in the eyes of the others.

-At the end, the lambs who looked down on him change their tune.

It's one of the few films that actually shows the tormentors in the aftermath. I know when it comes to films like Cinderella, there are some that wonder why we don't see any comeuppance/etc for the stepsisters and stepmother.

"Thanks, guys." "So long, partner."

- Toy Story 3 (9/10)

Absolutely, but it makes me wonder why the ending of "Lambert" doesn't bother me as much as the ending of "Dumbo" does.
But I guess that it helps that Lambert's mother was never put behind the bars just because she defended her son.
Also, "Lambert" is only a short and probably had no time to show us that the sheep were held responsible for their bullying.
"Dumbo" happens to be a feature movie though and should and could have included such a scene with the elephants at the end...

Reassuring children that Dumbo will be back with his Mommy did help. It was sad.

reply

Hilarious! Actually, they truly are proud now (And so am I of the arranging of the voices for that female chorus)!
