Ivy's back injuries

I was wondering if Ivy's get cuts and scars on her back. Did Hyde hurt her on the back?

reply

he obviously laid hooks in her. probably even whipped her.

Thanks,tdaugherty2005 .

reply

I think he scratched her, like Michael Caine.

reply

Or maybe he whipped her while she & Bea were pulling his carriage! :)

He whipped her.
In a lost scene from the 1931 film, of which this version is a remake, it is made clear that he repeatedly lashed the hell out of her.
Too risqué for the Hollywood version I presume.

The allusion of Ivy's back injuries resulting from sexual abuse and Jekyll's psychological illusions of Ivy (along with Beatrix) as a horse that he rides results in vivid imaginations as a viewer.

I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not.

Though the 1931 film was made by Paramount, a Hollywood studio, in Hollywood.
