Was there really such a food as tunafish popovers???? If so, I would love the recipe!!!!!

reply

Yes, my Swedish great-grandmother made them.

1. Open can tuna fish
Add mayo, celery, dash of salt
Mix till creamy smoothness
2. Cut open popover

3. Stuff tuna into popover

4. Wrap tightly and place in paper bag

5. Carry to job.

6. Eat for lunch.

You mean:

4. Wrap tightly and place in SHOE BOX.

:)

I have a new philosophy. I'm only going to dread one day at a time.

Remember to drain off the oil or water from the can of tuna fish prior to adding the other ingredients!

Tunafish filling is also quite good when rolled to wrap in crepes.

That chef lost his job over this...(speculative). What a dumb-ass he probably tried to bake everything together. Dry/ Dry and nasty. if you are going to stuff a popover make the popovers first. Ive tasted some cheese popovers that where ok ...thats it

My friend's Mum has a great recipe for tuna:

- can of tuna
- 1 tbs mayonaisse
- heavy sprinkle of 'Mrs Dash - Extra Spicy'
- heavy sprinkle of curry powder
- ground pepper

Mix well and serve in a half pita bread with carrot and celery sticks. Delicious! The curry makes all the difference.

Sounds like a taste treat. I wonder if I could hold the mayo, though, or maybe substitute mustard? I never cared for mayonnaise.

reply

Warped, mustard might be a bit strong. Instead of mayo you might try some sour cream, or perhaps some whipped cream cheese. Then add a drop or two of mustard to taste.

Thanks for the tip, giverny98! I'll try it with cream cheese and a little mustard. I don't like mayonnaise or sour cream – they just taste foul to me.

I make popovers all of the time...as said above make them first....go to recipe.com you can get away with a large muffin pan. Follow the recipie let cool and stuff them w/ your fav. tuna salad....if not familier also look that up on the same page. Probably 100 diffrent mixes. I love popovers plain also...their are popover pans you can buy. If intimidated by baking don't be.
Thanks....love that movie but don't get the beach and public swimming pool thing. Edit: it's Food.com
