I just saw the DVD of "Charley's Aunt" and thought it was great. This is perhaps Jack Benny's best film performance next to "To Be Or Not To Be." It's a little hard to take the forty-something Benny as an Oxford student. His only nod to a British accent is to say 'cawn't' instead of 'can't.' But his performance takes off when he's forced to become the old Aunt. The movie is remarkably faithful to the Victorian-era farce and the great supporting cast of Hollywood pros -- including 25 year-old Laird Cregar playing the father of 31-year old James Ellison -- really gets in the spirit.
