Great quote

One of the best lines was Brodrick Crawford's quip about Hartley (Basil Rathbone): "Who does he think he is -- Sherlock Holmes?"

I've always LOVED that line. The line was also kind of prophetic. By 1941, Rathbone had brilliantly played Holmes in the Fox entries " Hound Of the Baskervilles " and " The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes ", plus doing a radio show with fellow actor Nigel Bruce. The year after Broderick Crawford uttered that line in" The Black Cat ", that very studio ( Universal ) would bring Rathbone and Bruce on board to solve crimes in current times( 1940s)in a string of films that would make Rathbone and Holmes unseparable for the rest of his life.
