Ah, I think Miss Bragg secretly enjoyed being the only woman in the household and having all those men dependent on her. Yes, she's starchy and bossy and repressed, but she is, after all, important to the professors because they enjoy her good cooking and housekeeping. No wonder she felt so threatened when Sugarpuss entered the household. And she probably has a crush on one or more of the professors, and maybe even an unacknowledged attraction to the garbage man.
I love this movie.
