Did He 'Cop a Feel'?

In the scene where the window gets smashed (we soon find out it is the real Dr. Karl Fenninger who has thrown something at the window), as everyone is running past Ginny Simms it seems one of the guys cops a feel by grabbing her left breast!

Anyone else notice this?

I played it in slow motion and you're absolutely right. It's Kay's "manager" who does it, but the editor cut to the next shot just as his hand reached its goal.

reply

I knew it! And she didn't even react---or maybe she did, and that's why they cut to the next shot!

reply

There's no visible reaction on her face, which either means that she was used to that, or she was trying to be a trouper and stay in character.

I sense a 'shocked' response from Ginny. In the same movie when Kay and his manager have to share the same bed, during a scuffle between the two men, the manager's (Dennis Okeefe) hair piece flops up for a second and they left it in. In the new book I've written on Kay Kyser called KAY KYSER- THE OL' PROFESSOR OF SWING! AMERICA'S FORGOTTEN SUPERSTAR, I've included a whole chapter on this movie. Google kay Kyser book.

O'Keefe starts out a ways away from her and in the whole shot he never looks at her, keeping his eyes fixed on where the window is supposed to be---and his hand goes smoothly and directly on target. She is looking shocked at the window breaking but her eyes quickly shift to him as he rushes by. It is hard to tell, but another actor's hand is pressing on his arm, so perhaps it wasn't on purpose and his hand got shoved closer and higher than he intended. I wonder how many takes they did--not many, I'm sure.

If it was intentional, the guy achieved a certain artistry of smarmyness and slime.

He absolutely did cop a feel.Unfortunately, there's not much to grab. I'd be willing to bet it was a joke, but they left it in.

Looks like a total accident to me. For anybody else bored enough to check this out it's at 90 mins 15 seconds on the dvd :P

Rats....now I HAVE to dig out my tattered old VHS duped off a TV showing and check this out....

reply

He didn't cop a feel. First his hand remains flat and open the whole time and only touches her for a brief second. There is no groping or grabbing. It's obvious he was trying to get around the other girl and his hand touched her chest accidentally. This is insulting to Dennis O'Keefe. Why some modern viewers try to shoehorn salaciousness into older films wherever they can is beyond me. It's pretty tasteless actually.

Yep he got a feel of Ginny ... I bet he enjoyed it ... Her ? Not too sure ---
