Theme reminds you of...?

You know how various movie themes haunt a person's memory by way of mood rather than specific melody? For me, one is the love theme from "Captain From Castile". Another is the hauntingly sad theme from "Waterloo Bridge". Although it's been long since I've seen this movie, I remember making a connection with this music and some melody by SERGE PROKOFIEV! Just can't quite recall. I'm sure others have made the same connection - which Prokofiev piece is it?! Please put a stop to my mild anguish over this. Thank you immensely.

It's not prokofiev, its Tschaikovsky from the ballet SWAN LAKE. Myra dances it at the beginning, that's where you first hear the music then it is threaded with the other three themes, the prostitute, the love, the Old Langsign... its a great score.

I wish I were a woman of 36... dressed in black satin with a string of pearls!

Ezbez, I appreciate your offering an answer to my inquiry. As beautiful as the Tchaikovsky music is, I was able to do a bit more research myself and came up with the opening and ending of Prokofiev's "Conte de la Vieille Grand'mére, op. 31 #3 (perhaps saxophone instead of a piano).

And what a brilliant choice it was!

It conveys (instantly!) the radical change of life in the girls' lives, while still being poignant, even tender.
