This needs to be on DVD-
I saw parts of this film on one of those public access channels. As far as I know, it has never been shown on any of the big cable movie channels. It should not be forgotten or ignored.

While cleaning out a hall closet which was filled with books and tapes, I came across a VHS cassette of this film. It's discovery triggered a long-ago memory of when I taped it off of a local public access cable channel, which aired foreign-language films every Friday & Sunday evenings.
It was before TV channels had a "bug"(on-screen-logo) in the corner of the screen.
This must have been almost 20 years ago.
When it was aired on the public access channel, I recall thinking that I had not seen the film since I was a teenager in New York City, when I saw this film in high school. It was part of my French-language course-- we often watched French films in school, but only for the purpose of learning the language.
Little did my instructor know that at least one of the students present was a passionate cinemaniac....
That was in the late 1960s. My second viewing of "Volpone" was about 25 years later, when I saw it on public access.
My third look at "Volpone" was shortly after "re-discovering" that long-hidden VHS cassette. I was overcome with a pleasure similar to what someone must feel upon opening a treasure-chest and beholding the jewels within.
