Pretty darn good at most everything she did.

Lupino was fantastic! As much as I like her in this, I think Marie Windsor would also have been great in that role. But Windsor wouldn't have been as well-known or popular in 1940. She would begin to make her mark about five years down the road.

Funny you should mention Windsor, because she's my favorite noir actress. However, I can't see her in the role of Lana, because I can't see the Ed Carlsen character picking her as a bride. Ida Lupino had the looks ( and voice ) to charm the pope into end up having to say a couple thousand ' Hail Marys '. Whereas, I don't don't see Marie Windsor having those tools. She was a much bigger [ dame ], with not nearly the looks of Lupino. But I loved the heck out of her work, though.
