Interesting Story About Lorre and Margaret Tallichet

I saw this at Film Forum in New York recently.

It's a great little "B" movie thriller about a reporter who is accused of brutal murder though he swears it was done by an evil faced stranger (Peter Lorre). The reporter's fiancee (Margaret Tallichet) decides to try to track down the murderer herself.

Tallichet would later marry William Wyler and retire from films. Their daughther was present at the screening . She had an interesting story about the scene where she is attacked by Lorre as the psycho killer.
She said Lorre had been eating raw onions just before the scene making him even more repulsive to her. She thinks he did it because she was very inexperienced and if you watch the scene you can see him breathing right in her face as she is recoiling in disgust. Watch her face the next time you see this and you will notice it.

I wish I had read this BEFORE seeing the film.

Once was enough for me, so I'll miss out :-)
