Watching it now (1/4/2017)

I am watching The Son of Monte Cristo now on TCM. It is a really entertaining swashbuckler and I am enjoying the exploits of The Torch very much.

Louis Hayward was good in the starring role and George Sanders was a great villain with a haircut that would make any marine drill instructor proud.

Joan Bennett was really young and beautiful. I primarily remember her from her later roles when she was much older, such as Desire in the Dust, and Dark Shadows.

And I really enjoy seeing a very young Clayton Moore, long before I knew him as The Lone Ranger.

A young Rand Brooks is in this one, a year after he played Scarlett O'Hara's first husband in Gone with the Wind, and long before he got the role that I remember him best for, as Corporal Boone in the TV series Rin Tin Tin.
