Fred was a serious a-hole in this movie

He pretty much screwed over anyone and everyone.

He's rather a cad in HOLIDAY INN, too.

Poe! You are...avenged!

I thought Artie Shaw was a huge, egotistical jerk too. Could he possibly take himself any more seriously? I really hope he was "acting" and that wasn't his personality.

Between Artie Shaw, Fred Astaire and Burgess Meredith characters acting like non-stop schmucks, Mr. Chisholm was a sweet breath of fresh air. Air band and all.

Was a little disappointed seeing him do the same trick as Meredith at the end, though.

No two persons ever watch the same movie.

Yes, this movie was about multiple layers of people using and screwing over other people.

I agree. The script writer portrayed Fred and Burgess as mean, nasty, and totally disgusting. I got so upset with them that they ruined the Artie Shaw music. That makes it a bad movie, despite the great Artie Shaw music.
I had to turn it off, because I got too mad to put up with the malevolent characters.

I agree too, there wasn't a likeable character in the whole film, except maybe the one played by Charles Butterworth.

Characterisation is always important in films. There has to be likable characters or at least interesting ones, which Second Chorus fails on both counts.

Lighten up, people - this is a comedy.
