Gene Tierney makes her movie debut
And she never looked more beautiful! Perhaps the only actress who ever equalled Gene's breathtaking beauty was Catherine Deneuve.

shareI couldn't agree more. My wife, maybe rightly so, thinks I have a weird obsession about her...LOL
shareThere's nothing weird about it. During her first scene, have you ever seen a more innocent looking nineteen-year-old? Whatever credibility 'The Harvard Lampoon' had was lost after their 1940 proclamation.
shareWell, you guys can't be blamed for admiring Gene's looks, but she did get bad reviews for her first film--in fact, she got several bad reviews for the next few films she did at Fox and it wasn't until much later on that the critics found her work acceptable. I thought the role itself opposite Fonda was rather insipid.
Her beauty was much more obvious and fully defined in later films she did in color, like LEAVE HER TO HEAVEN or THUNDERBIRDS.
Her looks were incredible but the role and her acting were nothing to get excited about. Not in this film. A very mediocre film.
shareHer beauty was fully defined and obvious in this Technicolor picture and a year later in the black & white SUNDOWN in which she looked absolutely stunning in her "harem girl" outfits. Personally of the Tierney films I've seen I thought she was at peak beauty in SUNDOWN.
shareVery nice, though there are probably a hundred more actresses with claim to the title. :)
