The Same Mother from ' It's A Wonderful Life ' ( 1946 ) ...

nice to see that actress Beulah Bondi was playing a similar role in this movie too she seemed just perfect for these roles . Another excellent and memorable actress she was .

That's the fourth film I've seen her in today! She was in three films on TCM today. One was in the middle of the night last night that I recorded. The fourth one was A Summer Place.

Program note here, since I just looked up Beulah's TV listings:

Fri. Dec. 20 8:00 PM NBC It's a Wonderful Life (8pm Eastern)

Cool movie marathons are my favorites too ( especially ones by certain memorable actors ) . Unfortunately I missed some of those movies on this channel from earlier on ( but I have seen " A Summer Place " before excellent film ) . Oh well I know TCM will show them again soon enough . I do have " It's A Wonderful Life " on DVD and most definitely watch it more than just once on this holiday season . Thanks hka-3 for your reply .

You're welcome and thank you for making this thread . It was kind of an Agnes Moorehead day too (Grandmama/Endora from Bewitched), since she was in a couple of the films. I'm getting a big kick out of seeing her play pleasant women in these old films, as opposed to the trickster she was on Bewitched.

Again you're most welcome hka-3 . Agnes Moorehead another excellent and memorable actress too . Every time I had seen her in movies all I can think ( like you mentioned here ) is either " Grandmama/Endora from Bewitched " OR that poor voiceless lady character from " The Twilight Zone " episode " The Invaders " . Of course she does fight back in that one . So definitely watching her in these films made her seem quite the versatile actress too .

tcm actually has van heflin marathons! i mention that as there's a movie, 'the prowler', that's pretty good & in it, he's from indiana like the gal too (like this movie), one of the lines the best i can recollect is: 'us hoosiers gotta stick together!'

Wikipedia has an interesting profile on Beulah Bondi ---- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beulah_Bondi ---- . I never put it together she also played on the TV Show " The Waltons " she was one of their relatives from the neighboring county .

I didn't know she was on there. I'd like to see those episodes. After seeing your post I looked at her profile and I'm learning some more things, like how Jimmy Stewart had a TV series in the early '70s. I've seen Bondi in Tammy and the Doctor and didn't realize that was her.

Earlier this year TCM showed Bondi's first film which was called Street Scene (1931) and she pretty much looked the same there as she did in later films. A fascinating thing about that film is that even though a majority of it takes place in the same location, the director made sure every camera shot was from a different angle, which I think was a clever decision for a film of that era. Other films from back then use the same camera angles over and over and it looks like a play.

haven't seen 'street scene' (will check it out--thx!) she's in another lost classic 'make way for tomorrow'---that was a good one too.

Thanks, I'll be on the lookout for that! Funny that Beulah was in a few of the same things James Stewart was in -- It's a Wonderful Life (of course ), his early '70s TV series where she played his mother again in an episode and also Vivacious Lady (1938) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0030944/. I wasn't thinking about that when I saw Vivacious Lady on TCM last month.

thx for the link! haven't seen it. will try when it shows again.
