No racism!

Honey kept slapping her doll. When the Spoiler happened, the Black neighbor witnessed to the Police. I think that Grandma was the Bad Guy, but at least she was less a racist than the Porteeguee Bad Gal hater of our Star.... Or at least before we witnessed her Rise!

What the heck are you talking about? The only thing I understood was that Grandma was the bad guy. I agree with that. I truly hated Ellie May's grandmother because she encouraged her daughter and granddaughter to prostitute themselves; anything for money.

Grandma seemed like she would have turned a few tricks herself if she could pull it off and probably did do that in her younger years. The worse influence in a person's life are the people close to them who push them in the absolute wrong direction.

In regards to racism, I saw none of that in the movie. The black characters seem to be in the same boat as Ellie May's family. If anything the movie focused on those who had a means of support and those who were struggling and poor.

Grandma was also a prostitute in her younger years. I caught that when I watched it on TCM. Ben M mentioned it in blurb before movie played. She was a pretty disgusting creature.

Thanks for clarifying that. I must have missed that Ben Mankiewicz preview but I could tell something was not right with grandma. She was giving her daughter and granddaughter the worst advice and interfering with the good things in their lives.
