The single most ridiculous thing about this movie...

...is Jiminy being able to breathe perfectly fine underwater. I know it's a fantasy, but that for me was stretching things just a bit too much.

No, I definitely think a wooden boy turning into a real boy is more ridiculous.

I'm a Prick With a Fork.

The fairy did that with magic ;)

I'm with the OP, this bothered me too along with the fact that a 'cricket' had only 4 legs.

Jiminy talking was fine but not breathing underwater?

Let's be bad guys.

what's just as ridiculous: Lordie, I can't believe I sunk so low as to use the phrase world building. ok, maybe my comment isn't about that. I accept the new magic world with the appearance of blue fairy and the miracle she grants for Gepetto. Okay, after this miracle, we're in a new world with new rules (ok, Jiminy is something else.)BUT then it breaks its own rules when we're expected to believe Pinocchio is dying on the beach from drowning? when we just accepted his walking under water in search of Monstro.??!! If not drowning what injury did he receive? I just saw Tomorrowland and complain about the same inconsistency. why one time travel trip made 'em super thirsty and tired, and the end-of-movie threshold crossings didn't. I'll accept the "world building" rules but they can't just change arbitrarily.

Not to mention Pinnochio breathed underwater with no problem but ended up drowning later.

I came here for this EXACT TOPIC and here it is. LOL! I was thinking that same thing. Then he turns up in a bottle....?

Seems like an odd line in the sand to draw, but I guess if it bugs you it bugs you.

reply

Actually the most ridiculous thing is everyone being fascinated by a talking puppet but just ignoring the fact that there is a talking fox and cat walking around.

Seriously, this is very relatable to me.
You happen to encounter one absurd detail too many in a story and can't suspend your disbelief anymore.
