Liz is my idol

After watching this movie probably fifty times over the past years, I have come to appreciate Liz more and more. Too often, her grace, patience, and sexiness are overlooked. At first I thought she was too cynical, but now I know she has a very idealistic center to trust Mike so much and keep loving him even when he's immature and crazy. She never nags, and yet she can tell it like it is when she needs to. She loves to flirt and have fun and be flirted with, but she always stays classy and dignified --never trashy.

So many times my friends and I have guy troubles and we end up considering Liz and what she would do.

Of course every girl would love to be like Kate, but Liz is way underrated.

I feel the same way, Liz rocks!

She's funny, smart, and very knowing. She also has great lines: "That's probably so they can talk to the horses without having them in the house."

"I'm certainly out of focus now."

I hope Mike realizes just how lucky he is at some point; I have a feeling he does. Eventually.

I like Liz too. I thought she was clever, giving Mike time to realize what she knew all along, that SHE was the woman for him. She did not allow his infatuation (it could not have been true love, I mean, really!) to ruffle her feathers. That takes a lot of self confidence.

She really did rock!

I like Liz too, she was smart and sometimes sarcastic, and it was sweet to see how much she loved Mike.

Absolutely. Her character has some of the best lines in the film:

Tracy: "Duluth - that's west of here isn't it?"
Liz: "Yes, but sometimes we get the breezes."

Liz (in search of Mike): "Where's my wandering parakeet?"

Dexter: "Can you use a typewriter?"
Liz: "No thanks. I have one at home."

Dexter: "You're a good number Liz."
Liz: "Oh, I just photograph well... But I'm a bit out of focus now."

Priceless.

I didn't quite get the meaning of

Tracy: "Duluth - that's west of here isn't it?"
Liz: "Yes, but sometimes we get the breezes."

Can someone explain it to me?

I always took it in a couple of ways. First, it sounds like something someone's mid-western grandmother might utter in a homespun conversation on a porch. Someone on another board referred to it and followed up with a comment about the lines sounding funny to someone from the mid-west. I think it's also a reference to being west of the ocean breezes. (Before air conditioning everywhere, the privileged class would be able to get to the shore for "the breezes.")

I wish the rest of the show were written as smartly as her part. :) Tracy's part is tired and lame compared to hers. In another movie, Hepburn would have the snappy lines. I think her lines in TPS compare unfavorably to what she had to work with in Holiday.

In this film, Liz to me is much more interesting and sexy than Tracy. If I were Mike, I'd have married Liz long ago ... if she would have me.

She is so cool, I think she's hilarious and very pretty. I also like all her scense w/ James Stewart.

she's definitely my favourite character in the movie, far superior to kate. she has a very dry wit and has some of the best lines, for sure an underrated character...

i think mike knows liz is the girl for him when she says:

"don't get sentimental all at once mike; there'll be a reaction."

liz is, no question "a good number." the reason she doesn't have a more significant role is because she is such a rock. the movie is about a change of character; liz doesn't have much room for improvement.

men don't seem to desire stability. they desire hearth fires and holocausts.
