Did anyone else think that Jimmy Stewart was really beautiful here?

I did.

He was gorgeous. I was so attracted to him throughout the entire picture. Definitely deserved that Oscar. Such a great performance.

Totally agree! :)

I though he was superb in Philadelphia Story . . . this great film would not be what it is without him in it . . .

reply

Oh, yes!

This is my age! I'm in the prime of my youth and I'll only be young once.

Absolutely! I can't help but have a bit of crush on young Jimmy Stewart in ANYTHING, but this was one of his most attractive roles.

This is so bad it's gone past good and back to bad again.

Jimmy Stewart is ALWAYS great, being he always comes off as authentic & lovable for being that. He's the greatest of the great, a fine example of what being an American is, a quintessential American, like a like an honorable, exceptional eagle scout. If you were to have dictator, you'd want him. Of course his roles hardly exist any more today, when we have freakish, super-sized heroes & anti-heroes in movies & want-to-be's in real life. Collectively we continue to crave our Faustian bargain!

Yes he was so cute! Just adorable. He is so good in this film. He's such an amazing actor too, my favorite. Lucky Katharine to be stuck between Cary Grant and adorable Jimmy Stewart in this film. I'm so jealous of her when I watch this film. lol.

I am quickly falling in love with Jimmy Stewart. I'm only 30 years old, but he makes my heart pitter-patter. It started with Mr. Smith and it's just snowballing with each of his films I watch.

reply

*sigh* when DON'T I think this? I love Jimmy... and I feel that he aged quite well. Stayed handsome through each stage of his life.

reply

Jimmy Stewart's ageless appeal continues all the way through the ridiculously sexist (but nevertheless charming) "Cheyenne Social Club." That one hasn't aged as well as many of his other parts, but the Jimmy Stewart/Henry Fonda combination is worth 90 minutes of time, just for the smiles.

Well, m'dear, I'm 21, and I've been smitten with Jimmy since my mid-teens.

Who's up for some Gilbert fun?

reply

Haha, same story here. I love the tall, dopey types. Plus, I swear he has good chemistry with everyone he acts with. More than that, I love that he was a soldier, a decorated war hero, and a good man in real life, devoted to his wife and with integrity. It was rare back then, but now it's almost nonexistent. He's already such an appealing and good actor, but you add in that he's a good man in real life, and that makes him for me my uncontested favorite actor of all time.

i'm 20 and i've had a crush on him since i was a kid, i've been watching him as long as i can remeber

Jimmy Stewart is sex in this movie. Basically.

Jimmy Stewart > Cary Grant.

reply

Jimmy's cute and a fine actor, but for me it's Cary all the way.

And there's so much under the surface with Cary in this picture. So underrated!

I go for Cary Grant > Jimmy Stewart
