did parties in the 40's really go all night long? i've noticed this in other classics from time to time. does anybody know? just a curious question.

everything else about it just seems so, proper. i guess folks were just drunk or extremely hungover at weddings back then. i'm all for bringing back that trend!

Not only that, but Mike goes to Dexter's house after that, and then Mike comes back to the house and he and Tracy go for a swim. Then George comes over, and Mike takes Tracy to her room, and Dexter slugs Mike. By this time, what is it, about 6???? She was getting married at noon or 1. Wow - a long "evening".

Young people today are the squarest, most uptight, dour, priggish generation in all of human history.

Yes, people in the past knew how to party and have a good time. Some of us still do. It's only the young who were raised to never unclench their teeth or their bottoms who are terrified of anything that could possibly be considered fun.

Somewhere, Mrs. Grundy and Howard Hyde Russell are laughing and whooping it up at how the children of the 21st century think.

Parties in the 80s went on all night long, and I'm pretty sure parties in the 2016s go on all night, too! I just could never figure out the timeline--they dance, Mike gives an expose about Kidd, they swim, they sleep...but not for long because she has to get married and they talk about it as "morning" so before noon. It seems like a lot for a few hours after 4am.
