What happened to the blonde girl?

The rescued blonde girl who was tending to Robert Young's character's injuries seemed to just disappear out of the story. It almost seemed like a romance was being hinted at, which would have made a nice twist to the story. Anyway, I was just wondering what happened to her.

From memory all the rescued captives were sent back seperately, when they split up during the return and after Towne had improved. Rogers stated the French would not be worried about them.

Correct, something about them not following a small party.

When the group split up into hunting parties at the lake, Rogers sent all the white captives with 3 other rangers back to Crown Point. He stated that the French and Indians wouldn't follow such a small party. They are never referred to again in the movie so we do not know if they made it back to Crown Point or not.

It ... would have made a nice twist to the story.
I agree and if the film was remade these days something like that might happen. It's interesting that back in the village (Jennie, the blonde girl) doesn't want to leave. But then later is almost desperate to remain with and tend to Towne and doesn't try to escape, though there is no cinematic reason given for her change of heart. But of course a 75 year old film is unlikely to explore a possible tryst whilst on the enforced march.🐭
