Margaret Hamilton

"The Wicked Witch of the West" from THE WIZARD OF OZ has one of her most sizable roles in MY LITTLE CHICKADEE. She's a lot of fun as the selfrighteous old bat out to run Mae West out of town.

And wearing Miss Gulch's outfit to boot! All she's missing is the bicycle, the basket & the music!

...and Toto, too....

"Stupid!?! I never called you stupid! To call you stupid would be an insult to stupid people!"

Hamilton's the only screen icon in this minor misfire who seems concerned with using her presence in the film to further what there is in the way of a plot. She's actually refreshing to watch switching from disapproving scold to wide-eyed flirt. I found her more appealing (and younger-looking) than West!

I didn't understand how she was traveling with Flowerbell, then ratted her out at being with the masked bandit and saying she was a jezebel, as if she was appalled, but at the same time she left with Flowerbell on the train out of town. I must've missed the part where it was stated what her relation was to Flowerbell.
