All of a sudden, after her fainting spell Leslie is released from prison and is at the home of her attorney. How did this happen? She wasn't supposed to be eligible for bail. Then although she is supposed to be confined to the house she goes off to the Chinese quarter. No explanation.

shareIf you remember - the lawyer's assistant (who arranged the $10,000 letter buyout) suggested the lawyer use his influence to sway the judge to allow the court to release Bette to his (the lawyer's) custody at his house. It is assumed by the scene that the lawyer did indeed manage to talk the judge into this.
