Davis and Wyler

This may have already been covered and if it has I apologize. But weren't William Wyler and Bette Davis lovers at the time this movie was made? As I recall she said he was the great love of her life. He is one of my favorite directors too and I think The Best Years of Our Lives is a timeless story of returning vets.
