Ending was a copout (spoiler)

The movie sets up this huge moral dilemma and tension between Bette Davis and Herbert Marshall, then wastes our time by having Davis conveniently bumped off just in time for the end credits. It's not a satisfying conclusion, and it actually opens up more questions than it answers. What happens to the lawyer who committed professional misconduct? What happens to Mrs Hammond?

"Worthington, we're being attacked by giant bats!"
