Low rating

Quite a low rating for such a finely acted film. Rains was superb as usual and very animated. The rant and rave scenes were the heart of the film and extremely well done.

A great period piece from a great period of movie making.

I watched this film today on TCM, and Hopkins and Rains were great in it. I love Claude Rains.

I enjoyed the film very much.
Those "Mrs. Leslie Carter's" outbursts would compare with what I have read Miriam Hopkins was in real life (which doesn't make me dislike her at all).
Great support by GONE WITH THE WIND alum Laura Hope Crews and Victor Jory, and the always great Helen Westley.
Can't say I know anything about the real Mrs. Leslie Carter, aside from the name, so messing up the facts didn't affect me.

I watched it today on TCM. Rains is indeed the best part of the picture. Also, I wish Hollywood wouldn't mess around with the real history just to juice up a movie.

Mr. Rains and Ms. Hopkins (and a good group of character actors) do a nice job of acting in "Lady with Red Hair". The actor who portrayed Ms. Hopkins' spouse evidently was a British supporting actor whose acting was coached by Ms. Carter's real-life husband. Some of Ms. Hopkins' costumes are a bit too distracting, which is unusual for films of that era. The TCM print, as shown on the U.S. cable network, may be a candidate for film restoration as it is a bit on the dark-looking side.

Claude Rains is always fantastic.
