vastly underrated

this film is a riot, and a well-done riot at that!

I didn't care for it that much, but I generally don't like a lot of films from the '40's. I don't like all wisecracks and playful tough talk that passes for conversation between the characters.

I do think Virginia Bruce did do a lot to try and soften the part, though. She was quite good, but all the jabs and one-liners tired me out after a while.

fair enough... and this is why we have more than one flavor of ice cream -- to each his own. i ADORE all the wisecracks and witty banter.

yet a reaction to a film is not about being right or wrong, it's about discovering the things one enjoys, no?

(okay film snobs, you can rip me apart now.)

Oh I agree - and thanks for not replying with, "You just don't get it! Go back to Transformers, dumbass!"

My favorite line was after he put the lampshade on her head and remarked at the jaunty angle she adjusted it to. She came back with, "That's how they're wearing them this year." in a perfect deadpan. That had me laughing.

Oh it's hilarious. My brother, my mom and I all laughed for about a full minute at the line of "Did you shoot that elk" (mounted on the wall), "No, I think it was BORN there."

IF Hollywood could EVER remake a movie and make it good, THIS would be one they would have to try, because even today that would be such a novel concept, an invisible person who could be a secret weapon against a pack of crooks.
