A question about the nightgown

When Larry and Kay are in the dept. store buying a nightgown, he says, "Haven't you something from, say, Sharmaine?" (That's the phonetic spelling.)

Context suggests that he's referring to a manufacturer/designer, not a region, but I don't know for sure, and my searches -- using various spellings (Charmaine, Charmagne, Sharmaine, Sharmagne, etc.) -- yielded nothing. (One of those spellings led me to an Egyptian website with inexpensive nightgowns, but that can't be right -- the nightgown in the movie was a beautiful expensive silk -- $90 then, which, according to one econ website, is about $1000 in 2014 dollars.)

Can anyone shed light on this? Thanks.

$90 is a massive sum for a nightgown .but that is the point .. but I do wonder who they meant by "Charmain"?

it's obviously a made-up designer/brand meant to be "expensive and worldly" by its invocation -- which works very well for the "changed man" story.
