Scared Stiff

Martin & Lewis remake was good too, Scared Stiff, the only thing I miss is Willie Best.

Lizabeth Scott v.s. Paulette Goddard, Paulette's prettier, but Liz acting was superior.

Bob Hope v.s. Dean Martin, Bob Hope easily. I love Dean, but this was Bob's show, the only thing about Dean's performance that was better was of course his wonderful singing...

Jerry Lewis v.s. Willie Best, Willie Best easily. But Jerry Lewis is a comedic gem and always has been, but this movie needed that servant relationship, and having Dean & Jerry as buddies wasn't as believable.

Carmen Miranda v.s. NO ONE, The only reason that Scared Stiff can be mentioned as comparable to Ghostbreakers are the Kick Butt musical numbers that Ghostbreakers didn't have, although the story lines are nearly exact, the musical numbers liven up the Martin & Lewis vehicle and are always a treat to watch... ENCHILADA...

So my summing up of the 2 films is Ghostbreakers cannot be truly compared to, as this is one of Bob Hope's finest films & Willie Best is a genius, So,
Ghostbreakers - 10
Scared Stiff - 8

Both great fun, and truly must sees for those who are fans of the genre.

When I was a kid I thought the funniest part was when Willie Best's
character got so scared he turn white...would they consider that
offensive today?

Everything's offensive today.

A movie analyst I was watching made a point of Willie Best being a servant, coward, and seemingly not too bright, but never mentioned that Bob Hope had most of those criteria also, somewhat cowardly, and always one or two steps behind the plot of the movie. The two paired up well, and seemed quite friendly as well.

At one point, Bob Hope says, "I smell something" and Willie Best says "an it ain't no fried chicken".

It depends on how you feel about musical numbers, maybe it's being able to compare Scared Stiff to this movie; but they seem to slow the Martin & Lewis movie down.
