Kidnapping bit

When Carol 'kidnapps' Haverstock, he goes and gets an extra single room for her. Next scene, she's at home saying to her father 'I didn't think he was like that' etc. I don't get this. 'Like' what?

I understood it like she felt he just wanted to have sex with her and when he was finished going to sleep comfortably in his own room.

I was wondering if I had missed something too. Steembot, what did you mean by "confusing to a modern audience?

I assumed that she was not thinking of staying the night. When he asked for another room the desk clerk smirked and said they could have adjoining rooms. She thought that he was expecting hanky-panky just as the desk clerk implied with his reaction but that was not what Jones meant.
