50 Horror Classics...

I got this box set (50 Horror Classics)... And... While this was an ok film (sorta like an old black & white Colombo), WHY is it classified as Horror?!?! I've seen Sesame Street episodes more scary then this... This film belongs in a mystery/suspence set... Not horror.

These public domain companies tend to get "liberal" when trying to come up with enough titles to satisfy a certain theme. The connection here is Boris Karloff, insomuch as he is a "horror actor."

reply

Yep, pretty much. It's not a horror movie, but I guess they needed something to fill the space. It wasn't a bad movie.

reply

Agreed. Karloff-horror connection was used as a shortcut to fill the boxset. Quite a good flick though!

I have that box set and I'm watching it now. I agree with the poster who said they probably snuck this movie in because of Boris Karloff's association with horror.

Come on, Franklin! It'll be a fun trip!

I just got the 50 Horror Classics with this film in the set. I believe it's because Boris Karloff is in the film - a horror movie star. They might have needed more of Karloff's films in the set to make it more attractive/appealing to the buyers. Lugosi's "Black Dragons" came in the set and it is not a horror film either. Also a couple of comedy-horror films in set. All in all it's a cool 50 film set even though not all of the films are 100% horror.
