Missed A Scene

Caught it this a.m. on TCM...had to leave the room when Maureen O'Hara first visits Ralph Bellamy's office...when I returned, he was chasing her down a rainy street, offering her his umbrella and/or a cab ride, both of which she declines. Could anyone please fill in this gap for me, i.e. what happened during her visit to his office that caused her to react this way. Thank you.
