Illogical?

More than one reviewer on these pages laments that the whole film is illogical, since the cargo ship's captain Andersen pursues his absconding passengers Pidgeon and Mrs Sorensen to London instead of just informing the British authorities. To those who watched with any care, his actions are entirely logical.

As a conscientious skipper, his duty is to deliver his passengers intact to the port for which they have paid without losing any on the way. The passes the pair stole to get ashore were not issued to them, so they could have been arrested for theft and illegal entry. Since Andersen's momentary carelessness allowed the passes to fall into their hands, he is partly responsible for the disappearance of the two passengers. Having no idea that the two were associated in any way, and fancying Mrs Sorensen as he does, he wants to discover their reasons for pairing up. And finally he loves adventure, loves a fight, and cannot stand being thwarted!

I ignore user reviews from people who just don't get it. You obviously do.
