... how the Africans were portrayed in this wretched film.

You did notice Maisie saying "They're still playing Uncle Tom around here?"

I did find that pretty shocking...But why should it have at all in the first place, if TODAY, in real life that is how African-Americans are still treated by a large segment of American society?

This was a delightfully entertaining entry in the Masie series, and the Africans were both menacing and hilarious. It's just entertainment, and has no influence whatever on the way I think of or relate to actual Africans or African-Americans.
