What happened to the crooked handler of the champion? The Hollywood code back then was that criminals had to get caught. It appears he not only got away with illegally putting stuff on the champion's glove to deny Cagney the fight that he was certain to win, he blinded Cagney and then he got away with murder when he killed the gambler that was going to make him turn in the glove and admit his guilt. Strange they let them get away with that one.
shareThe only resolution as to what happend to Cobb is while Danny is in the hospital Scotty says "They got Cobb". Or words to that effect. Hard to catch since he says it so fast, but let's assume "they" is the cops.

shareI suspect at that point he would also be wanted for killing two people. People saw them all leave together. If three of the four wound up shot to death, the remaining one would have a lot of explaining to do. He could have claimed self-defense but the evidence wouldn't exactly support that.
Ironically, had he not shot them, he would have gotten off fairly easy. Putting powder on a boxing glove to fix a fight, even if it does cause blindness, would have been a much lesser offense than murder. Either way, he wouldn't get off scot-free.
