This Is Awful!

Normally I do like these old movies, but am really feeling misled by the enjoyment of Wonderful Life or Mr. Smith (yes, I am a Stewart fan) and there have been others I have enjoyed for no reason, like On Borrowed Time, but after finally watching Sullivan's Travels and finding it ridiculous, then watching Remember the Night with Fred MacMurray (whom I can't stand) and Barbara Stanwyck, I'm now watching this one and it is truly dreadful trying to get some of the same reaction as Smith or Wonderful Life might have done.

I can't begin to say what is wrong here. I'm listening to this woman's speech at the end, just another nail in the coffin.

I watched John Doe as well, practically same plot as this, and I found some of it enjoyable, but not Gary Cooper (the more of his movies I watch, the less I understand as to what made him 'famous').

But the idea that it's a wild turn-around on events to have the store stand in the middle of the street where children are playing and start trying to take toys from them.

Absurd!

Amazing thing was there were no press running around.

My Man Godfrey these things aint. Liked Libelled Lady as well, and yes again, I'm a William Powell-Myrna Loy fan.
