Wonderful

I love Claudette Colbert and Clark Gable in this movie. I loved them also in It happened one night :)

Hell, I loved Clark and Spencer in this, especially during their early wildcatting days. Frank Morgan and Chill Wills were great, too. The women just tended to bog the plot down. Thought Colbert was bland in this- no wonder Clark went for Hedy.

No wonder Clark went for Hedy" are you kidding? What male wouldn't? Colbert, a fine actress, couldn't compare in looks with Hedy. Naturally, the story had to go with Claudette...for another hollywood happy ending. Even Colbert said in her auto biography, "imagine me in a film with that lamarr fabulous face ( often quoted as the most beautiful woman of not only the movies but of the century, by most experts. Also, I think that Hedy had the better of the woman parts, and the ending mostly consisted of her and her role. Especially loved that confrontation between Tracy and Hedy in her apartment...imagine poking that beautiful chest, and that stunning entrance of hers, sizing up Gable in the trailer..

Having to choose between HL and CC? That would be the ultimate male fantasy!

Yeah, I liked this film, too. I liked the camaraderie between McMasters and Sand, despite all the ups and downs of their relationship.

Also liked its epic nature: they started out in the West, moved through the Tropics, and eventually ended up in New York. I liked the pace.

Absolutely! I loved them in It Happened One Night. I never cared for Spencer Tracey. Especially when he's acting with Heddy Lamar. He's a mean bully. For real. When he poked her in the chest, I wanted to kick him in his ugly face.
