I mean cmon, Spring Byington was 54, and Russell Hicks was 45 and they had two little kids??
There is no way that Spring Byington could have been their mother. That's the first thing I thought of when I saw this film.
I wonder why they had them cast. Their parents would have been in their 30's at the least!!

Well, Mytel was about 11-12 year old, maybe a little bit older...she was not exactly a youngster. So her mom could've had her when she was 42. That certainly wouldn't be true in the movie's timeline.
In the real world, many women have children well into their 40s if they're able to (and I have two first cousins to prove it).
And WHY did that actress's parents actually name her "Spring"?
