Lol! This is a bar that he frequents...I almost spit out my beer when I heard it. Everything about this movie is funny. Just listen closely. Almost seems like a pre-code, and I can only imagine if this was made pre-code! That would have been delightful.

This movie is on right now on TCM. WC just referred to it as the Black Pussycat, but earlier it was, uh, what I said. Just wanted to clarify!

shareThere's another good innuendo about 31 mins into movie where he is escorting the bank examiner guy through town....Fields says (after the guy mentions he has a daughter) "I'm very fond of children....(pause)...girl children, around 18, 20".
shareThey actually did name it 'The Black Pussycat Cafe' for exactly that reason. Fields enjoyed thumbing his nose at the censors of the day. I don't have all the Fields movies available to watch, but I think it was in 'Never Give A Sucker An Even Break' that he walked into a soda fountain, then turned to the camera and said: "This scene was supposed to be filmed in a saloon, but I reckon it'll play just as well, here."
