Postbellum, not antebellum


A modest country doctor in the antebellum South has to contend with his daughter's upcoming wedding...

On the main page, this film is listed as taking place in the antebellum South, which would mean "before the [Civil] war"... but, just as the film starts there's a title caption that reads "Carterville, Miss. - 1870" so that would make it postbellum, not antebellum.

Nice of you to point that out but it's kind of a shame people wouldn't have noticed that. This was clearly a different period in time; though not by much.
